Job summary

Allied Universal in San Jose, CA is seeking a full-time Unarmed Security Officer for residential communities. You will perform routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, monitor access points, and respond to security-related concerns while delivering excellent customer service to residents and staff.

This role emphasizes professional communication, situational awareness, and adherence to site-specific procedures. CPR/First Aid is preferred, and prior security or badge experience is valued.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff while following security procedures.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of buildings, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity per site procedures.
• Respond to incidents and concerns calmly, documenting observations and actions.

Pay Rate: $23.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Mon 09:30 PM - 06:00 AM
• Tue 09:30 PM - 06:00 AM
• Wed 09:30 PM - 06:00 AM
• Sat 09:30 PM - 06:00 AM
• Sun 09:30 PM - 06:00 AM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and property staff while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of residential buildings, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site-specific procedures, assisting with resident and guest access as directed.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and actions taken.
• Communicate promptly with property personnel, Allied Universal supervision, and emergency responders as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
