Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Full Time TWIC Access Controller in Norfolk, VA to safeguard clients and facilities at a marine terminal. You will verify credentials, control entry, monitor logs, and guide authorized personnel.

The role emphasizes a visible security presence, adherence to procedures, and strong customer service. A TSA-issued TWIC and high school diploma are required; schedule is Tue–Fri 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, pay is $19.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• A TSA-issued TWIC is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and/or contractors by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, security-related policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor and vehicle logs, and direct authorized personnel to designated areas.
• Control access to restricted terminal areas and report unauthorized access attempts, suspicious activity, and security-related concerns according to site procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and/or emergency personnel as required.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, buildings, parking areas, and perimeter locations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
