Job summary

Allied Universal in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Security Officer - Full Time - Overnights to protect facilities and people. You will monitor access points, perform patrols, verify credentials, and respond calmly to incidents while providing excellent customer service.

As part of a large national security team, you will follow site-specific procedures, document occurrences, and escalate concerns to site leadership.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check per federal, state and local laws.
• Criminal history considered in accordance with laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers by following site-specific access-control procedures.
• Monitor entry points, verify credentials, maintain visitor/contractor logs, and direct authorized individuals.
• Respond to access-control alarms, incidents and critical situations calmly and escalate per site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, perimeter areas, parking locations, and restricted zones to deter unauthorized access.
• Document incidents and access-control activities accurately and communicate with site management.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and/or delivery drivers by carrying out site-specific access-control procedures and security-related policies at an industrial location.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials and authorizations, maintain visitor and contractor logs, and direct authorized individuals to appropriate areas.
• Respond to access-control alarms, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, perimeter areas, parking locations, and restricted areas to help deter unauthorized access.
• Document incidents, access-control activities, and unusual conditions accurately and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
