Each University of Vermont Medical Center Security Officer is assigned to a specific Campus. The primary responsibilities include conducting patrol duties, responding promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and documenting services provided during each shift. Officers are expected to act courteously and professionally at all times.
Note: Emergency calls often require Security Officers to take the lead in controlling violent or threatening situations after attempts at verbal de-escalation by staff. Security intervention may involve detaining and/or restraining individuals involved.
High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Prior security or public safety experience is preferred, especially in providing a safe and dignified environment in stressful situations with a diverse patient, visitor, and staff population.
