Job summary

Piper Shores is Maine’s first and only nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community, seeking a Security Officer to help ensure the safety of residents and guests. You will respond to requests for assistance, patrol grounds, and perform regular safety checks throughout your shift.

The Security Officer will help ensure the safety of residents and guests by responding to requests for assistance, by patrolling the ground, and by making regular safety checks throughout your shift.

Security Officer Job Duties:

• Makes scheduled rounds, both interior and exterior, of all buildings with the exception of the cottages (exterior only), in order to maintain a secure environment for residents and their property as well as Community property.
• First responder to all fire alarms and emergency calls at apartments and cottages.
• Shovels and keeps clear exit doors and walkways during and after snowstorms as needed. Operates snowplow when necessary to clear way for emergency vehicles.
• Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
• Performs light maintenance as time allows such as changing light bulbs, touch up painting and similar assignments. Monitors building systems and performs routine inspections of equipment as needed.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• One year of experience in security preferred
• CPR and First Aid training preferred.
• Valid State of Maine driver’s license and good driving record.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Light to moderate physical effort 90% of the time, may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to walk 90% of the work day; ability to stoop and stretch occasionally; ability to operate all company vehicles. May be exposed to HBV and HIV viruses. Will be exposed to pets, pet dander, flowers, and plants in both buildings and throughout campus
