Job summary

Allied Universal in Irvine, CA is seeking a Security Officer Flex Gated Community for a part-time role with fixed anchor shifts and the option to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform. The position offers a pay rate of $20.75 per hour and a six‑month anchor shift commitment at a designated site.

You will support residents and staff, perform access control, and respond to incidents while maintaining security and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, vendors, and staff by executing access control procedures and site policies.
• Monitor entry/exit points, verify authorized access, issue visitor credentials, and maintain logs.
• Respond to incidents calmly and escalate per procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of community areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify concerns.
• Communicate professionally, report observations and maintenance concerns to management.

• Thur 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, vendors, and property staff by carrying out access‑control procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify authorized access, issue visitor credentials as directed, and maintain accurate access‑related logs and records.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating matters according to established procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of community common areas, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify property concerns.
• Communicate professionally with residents and guests while reporting security‑related observations, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
