Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer Screening Specialist in Norfolk, VA. You will provide customer service to passengers, crew, visitors, and clients while conducting security procedures and monitoring access points.

You will use screening equipment, support cruise operations, and remain visible and professional, with a focus on safety and a welcoming environment. The role offers a flexible weekend schedule and access to the Claim a Shift platform to explore additional roles.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• TSA-issued TWIC is required or preferred.
• X-ray screening experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screen required by law; licensing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to passengers, crew, visitors, and clients while conducting security procedures and policies.
• Screen passengers, crew, visitors, baggage, and items per cruise terminal procedures.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials and authorized entry.
• Respond to incidents calmly and escalate per site procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of screening areas and terminal spaces.

• Sun: 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to passengers, crew members, visitors, and/or clients while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Screen passengers, crew members, visitors, baggage, and personal items in accordance with established cruise terminal and port procedures.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials, boarding documentation, and authorized entry for restricted areas.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned screening areas, terminal spaces, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
• X-ray screening experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
