Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas in Topeka, KS is seeking a full-time security guard to protect employees and the property of the company. The role requires prior law enforcement training and experience, including identifying and addressing safety risks with quick, decisive actions. You’ll work Monday–Friday, with shifts 6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from a certified Law enforcement academy required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of employees and visitors.
• Respond to life-threatening situations with rapid, independent decision-making.
• Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering buildings and escort them away if necessary.
• Escort employees to their vehicles.
• Verify identification and eligibility of entrants.
• Patrol parking areas for safety.
• Check buildings after hours for security issues.
• Notify emergency personnel when needed.
• Monitor surveillance cameras from a desk.
• Provide incident reports.
