Work Schedule: Rotating Evenings, 2p - 10:30p

Job Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of hospital grounds, employees, patients, and visitors. Must be familiar with all hospital codes and respond appropriately. Conduct investigations, coordinate with hospital staff, and serve as a line of defense against outside criminal threats. Work alongside clinical staff in caring for patients, especially those presenting safety or security risks.

Working Environment

General environment:

• Well-lighted, air-conditioned area with moderate noise levels.
• Potential exposure to high noise, bright lights, hazardous substances, body fluids, infectious organisms, physical altercations, verbal abuse, toxic chemicals, and detergents.
• Requires adaptability to changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
• May include overtime and high-stress periods.

Job Roles

Security Officer - Proficiency Level

Departmental Equipment: Maintain security equipment including walkie-talkies, security vehicle, uniform, keys, metal detectors, building monitors, and access controls.

Emergency Management: Know all hospital codes (Red, Yellow, Gold, Pink, Green, Silver, Orange) and coordinate responses with law enforcement and first responders.

Safety and Security: Handle patient valuables, investigate complaints, submit reports, issue permits, cite parking violations, and monitor campus safety concerns.
