Job summary

Allied Universal, a leading security and facility services company, is seeking a Security Officer for a distribution center in Beltsville, MD. You will screen people and packages, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a visible security presence to deter incidents.

This full-time role requires strong communication, adherence to site policies, and the ability to respond to incidents. A guard card/licence is preferred, with background checks and a drug screen as applicable by law.

Qualifications

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background investigation will be conducted as required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and delivery personnel by following site procedures.
• Screen employees, visitors, contractors, and packages entering the location per procedures.
• Verify identification and access credentials; document denials and irregularities.
• Respond to incidents calmly and notify site contacts and emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of screening areas, loading zones, entrances, and perimeter.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and delivery personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Screen employees, visitors, contractors, and packages entering the logistics and distribution location in accordance with site procedures.
• Verify identification, access credentials, and authorized entry requirements; document denied access, irregularities, and other security-related observations.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of screening areas, loading zones, building entrances, and the perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.

Minimum Requirements

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
