Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer to deliver professional customer-focused security and life safety services. You will maintain visibility, monitor activities, and enforce policies to protect people and property in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes strong interpersonal communication, reliability, and adherence to security procedures. The Saturday 3:00pm–11:00pm shift with comprehensive benefits is available.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses
• PERC Card
• 20 Hour Security Training Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED or the equivalent
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and neat and professional appearance
• Write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reporting
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience is helpful

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional demeanor, aiding customers, employees, visitors, and guests
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility/building assigned
• Monitor the environment and detect suspicious/unsafe activity
• Be familiar with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, visitors, guests
• Greet people in a professional manner
• Answer phones professionally
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances/exits
• Enforce facility policies within the position's limits
• Perform patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures
• Monitor alarms and systems
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
