The Security Officer position is crucial to the success of Dotdash Meredith as it forms the first impression for guests, clients, and potential clients. It is essential to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times when interacting with visitors, callers, and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide security services to ensure the safety of employees and the security of workspaces and critical infrastructure.
- Enforce and adhere to all security policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of Dotdash Meredith.
- Handle public interactions with disorderly or disruptive individuals professionally.
- Write detailed narrative reports and maintain daily activity logs.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies, ensuring appropriate actions are taken, notifications are made, and After-Action Reports are completed.
- Operate the Fire Safety Command Station for announcements and alarm acknowledgments.
- Transport staff as directed by the Security Manager using a company vehicle, when needed.
- Greet and assist guests, messengers, and delivery personnel courteously.
- Support security staff during nights, weekends, and special events as required.
- Maintain strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Follow all procedures, rules, and regulations set by the department head.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least 2 years of security or related experience preferred; internships may qualify.
- Experience in corporate security, military, law enforcement, or executive protection is a plus but not required.
- Clean driving record as verified through a Motor Vehicle Records check.
- Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including day/night shifts and overtime as needed.
- Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
- Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Word, and Email; experience with access control, CCTV, and visitor management systems is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain active licenses required for the role at all times while on duty.
- Pass pre-employment screening, including background checks.
- All training, licenses, and certifications will be fully paid for by the company.
Physical & Mental Functions:
- Read, understand, and speak English clearly; good speech and hearing (correctable) are necessary for communication.
- Stand or walk continuously during events when required.
- Occasionally bend, twist, or kneel to perform duties.
- Maintain constant visual awareness and hand/eye coordination.
- Work in various environments, including outdoor conditions like cold, rain, or heat.
- Maintain mental alertness and attention to detail while prioritizing tasks.
- Follow the chain of command and established security protocols.
- Handle high-volume interactions with the public effectively.
