Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a hands-on Security Professional to patrol Watervliet Hospital and surrounding grounds. You will respond to emergencies, manage access to secured areas, and assist staff, patients, and visitors with directions and safety needs.

You will maintain incident documentation, participate in ongoing training, and uphold licensure requirements while supporting a safe, respectful hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: associate degree in public administration or criminal justice.
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • Active license: Michigan driver license.
  • CRT First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and BLS certifications required on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to deter criminal activity and unsafe conditions.
  • Respond to emergencies and requests for assistance, guiding staff, patients and visitors.
  • Provide access control for secured areas and assist with directions and escorts.
  • Document incidents thoroughly and timely; maintain incident reports.

Job Summary

Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to detect or deter criminal activity and unsafe conditions. Responds to emergency situations, calls for service and other requests for assistance. Provides supports for safe and efficient parking and transportation services.

Essential Functions

Maintains highly visible foot and vehicle patrols to detect or deter fire, accidents, violations of hospital policies and criminal acts. Documents information on incident reports and other required documents in a thorough, factual and timely manner. Assists employees, visitors, and patients with directions, lost and found items, vehicle assistance, escorts, and other requests for assistance. Provides access control for secured areas. Communicates, collaborates with, and provides appropriate information to patients, visitors, and members of the health care team. Manages verbal / physical conflicts using verbal de-escalation, physical presence, restraint techniques or other appropriate legal force options. Responds to and investigates suspicious, criminal or emergency situations. Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required ongoing training and education, including department specific requirements. Maintains required licensure and certifications.

Qualifications
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree Public Administration or Criminal Justice
  • 2 years of relevant experience related experience Preferred
  • Law Enforcement Academy or Military (active duty) experience Preferred
  • in an environment of comparable size and complexity Preferred
  • At least 20 years of age with valid Michigan driver license.
  • Required LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan
  • Upon Hire required CRT-First Aid - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
  • Or CRT-Stop the Bleed - American College of Surgeons American College of Surgeons 180 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
  • Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required
