Job Summary:
Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the security of people, buildings, and their contents, and preventing break-ins and theft through guarding and surveillance. Security officers work in a range of environments and are expected to deal with a wide range of situations as they occur; ensuring that businesses, properties, and valuables are protected from harm. The role of a security officer will depend on the nature of the premises being secured.

Please be prepared to show licenses/certifications if selected for an interview. CLEET Certification Phase 1 (Basic), Phase 2 (Officer) and Current Driver License.

Security Officer Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Patrolling one or a number of premises
2. Monitoring activity outside and inside a premises through observation and closed circuit television
3. Signing in visitors to a building
4. Checking suspicious packages
5. Performing checks on building traffic (the people going in and out of a building)
6. Recording any suspicious activity and taking any necessary action
7. Guarding valuables or cash (typically in a secure vehicle)
8. Communicating relevant information to other security officers via communication devices
9. Giving directions and other information to visitors
10. Writing reports for the police or courts
11. Conducting general reception duties
12. Creating and distributing building access cards

Environmental Hazards:
There is exposure to physical danger, such as:

1. Dangerous criminal elements
2. Arrest situations
3. Mentally deranged persons
4. Traffic accidents
5. Unruly crowds
6. Exposure to disease or hazardous materials during emergency responses
7. Various weather and hazardous conditions, which may be unpleasant.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift and carry 75 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations. This position also may require walking and running up or down multiple flights of stairs, chasing a fleeing suspect a moderate distance (up to ½ mile), detaining a suspect and maintaining custody, lifting or pulling an injured person to safety, operating a security vehicle in routine and emergency situations, and standing and/or walking continuously for a regular eight-hour shift.
