Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Security Officer 2 to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees at our Texas facilities. You will patrol, respond to incidents, file concise reports, and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, less than 1 year of experience, and training in BLS, with requirements to obtain a Commissioned Security Officer license and Texas DL within specified timeframes.

• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - BLS within 30 days of hire; Commissioned Security Officer within 6 months; TX DL within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas for unauthorized persons or crime sources; maintains radio contact with base and supervisors.
• Responds to public service calls, including criminal offenses and civil processes; escorts patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
• Assists Police Officers as required to maintain order and assist with arrests when requested.
• Responds to medical emergencies within training and scope of practice.
• Maintains secure facilities by locking/unlocking doors as required; reports security incidents concisely.

Job Summary

The Security Officer 2 provides customer service and a safe environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees. Incumbents may face bad weather while patrolling areas to detect fire or safety hazards and deter crime. Safeguards company assets and property from theft and criminal mischief. Investigates thefts, accidents, improper actions, and criminal offenses. Promotes good public and staff relations.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Patrols assigned areas for unauthorized persons or crime sources. Maintains clear, appropriate, and continuous radio contact with base, shift supervisor, and other officers.
• Maintains order in the local environment. Intervenes in disturbances calmly and efficiently, guided by courtesy, rules, and regulations.
• Responds to public service calls, including criminal offenses and civil processes. Handles hospital violations or customer service requests like escorting patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees to parking areas. Provides assistance with stalled vehicles, unlocking vehicles, and parking equipment malfunctions.
• Assists Police Officers as required to maintain order; to include assisting with arrests when requested.
• Responds without hesitation and assists with all medical emergencies as required, within the scope of the officer's training and expertise.
• Maintains secure facilities by ensuring various doors are locked as required. Unlocks facilities upon receiving proper authorization.
• Produces complete, accurate, and concise reports. Includes criminal offenses, false fire alarms, safety hazards, and general information. Consistent with internal processes and law.
• Handles sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.
• Controls the flow of traffic at designated points of interest. Issues citations for parking violations.

• Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
