Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson seeks a dedicated Security Officer to protect staff, patients and visitors while maintaining a safe, orderly environment.

You will monitor access, respond to alarms, follow emergency procedures, and support the shuttle/courier operations as needed. Prior security in healthcare is preferred; valid BLS and AZ driver license required. Join our team and contribute to patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
• BLS certification required; IAHS S Basic Training within 1 year of hire.
• Arizona driver’s license required; must maintain a valid license.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, visitors and property at the hospital.
• Monitor and secure hospital environment including parking and access points.
• Respond to security alarms and emergency situations.
• Coach staff and patients; document actions and incidents.
• Follow established emergency procedures and keep records up to date.
• May serve as shuttle/courier driver when assigned.
• Assist in training new Security Officers.

Job Summary

Position Summary

Provides protection for staff, patients, visitors, volunteers, physicians, students, and property at the hospital

Responsibilities

• Monitors and secures environment for patients, visitors, and associates. Monitors parking facilities, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic in accordance with department and hospital policy. Patrols secured and non-secured areas.
• Inspects areas for safety or hazards.
• Responds to security alarms and emergency situations.
• Coaches to assist patients, visitors, and associates; analyzes area problems; demonstrates how to perform assistive tasks; establishes rapport and provides feedback.
• Identifies and collects data needed for problem solving. Identifies problems and takes appropriate action. Clearly and concisely documents actions taken or incidence involvement.
• Follows established emergency procedures: Fire, Disaster, etc. – where to obtain information, information followed, and documentation to complete.
• Demonstrates communication skills - asks questions in a way that opens up communication and uncovers problems; finds common ground in disputes and achieves cooperation with minimum conflict; consistently seeks a “win-win” resolution.
• Provides clear, direct and specific instructions or information to patients and visitors - listens with patience and empathy; speaks effectively and clearly in both group and one to one conversations.
• May, when so assigned, serves in capacity of K-9 unit (handler and dog) according to Carondelet K-9 Security Guidelines.
• Utilizes equipment used in department (i.e. two way radio communication, o.c. spray, etc.).
• Participates in the organizational record-keeping system (i.e. Event Reporting System) using established policies and procedures.
• Maintains own basic skills and knowledge. Keeps aware of new security trends.
• When assigned, serves in capacity as a shuttle/courier driver.
• Monitors and promotes compliance with hospital policies such as solicitation, smoking, and visiting hours.
• Facilitates required departmental adjustments to ensure cost-effective delivery of quality services.
• Conducts investigation of reported situations and documents accordingly.
• Assists Director and Operations Leads to achieve established goals of the department and CHN.
• When assigned, performs in a shift lead capacity and delegates actions to be taken when Supervisory personnel are unavailable.
• May be required to assist in training of new Security Officers.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements
  • Education:High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience:Customer service experience (hospital or other relevant experience).
  • Licensure/Certifications:BLS, Current valid unsuspended Arizona Driver's License, I.A.H.S.S. Basic Training Certification must be completed within 1 year from the date of hire.
• Preferred Requirements
  • Experience:One (1) year prior security experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
