Job summary

Eastern Florida State College is seeking a part-time Security Officer for the Titusville Campus. The hourly rate is $16.00 and the position allows up to 32 hours per week, with potential for additional hours if funding and needs arise.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety of students, staff and visitors, enforcing campus policies, and working under EFSC Security Dept supervision via Lyneer Staffing Solutions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Class D Security License from FDACS preferred, but not required; must obtain after hire.
• Previous or current law enforcement, corrections, or Probation Officers preferred.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines for security and public safety.
• Ethical, confident and dependable.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Background checks incl fingerprinting and drug testing; fees payable.

Job description

Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part-time position of Security Officer on the Titusville Campus.

Salary & Benefit

The hourly rate is $16.00. This position has been approved for up to 32 hours per week. Officers may be permitted to work more than their scheduled hours if funding is available and an operational need exits.

Position Concept

Ensure security and safety of EFSC students, faculty, staff, visitors, and physical facilities; enforce College policies and regulations on the Titusville Campus. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions; however, applicants are under the supervision of EFSC Security Dept.

Minimum Qualifications

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Class D Security License from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services preferred, but not required. Selected candidates will be expected to obtain a Class D Security License from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services after being hired, at the discretion of the College.
• Previous or current law enforcement, corrections, or Probation Officers are preferred.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines for security and public safety.
• Ethical, confident and dependable.
• Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
• A review of Social Media activity will be part of the candidate evaluation process.
• This position will require successful fingerprinting and substance screening. The candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fees (currently $36.00/$65.15). The fingerprinting and substance screening fees ($36.00/$65.15) are non-refundable.

Candidates selected for Armed Security

• Must pass a vigorous background investigation to include fingerprint screening and drug testing.

Minimum physical qualifications

• Acceptable eyesight (with/without correction/aid).
• Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
• Light lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.).
• Climbing stairs.
• Walking long distances.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Bending, driving and pushing.
• Color, depth, and texture perception.
• Occasionally works inside in an office environment.
• Must adapt to frequent interruptions due to telephones, staff, student, and other customer traffic.
• Works outside in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, pollen, disease, pathogens.
• Uneven surfaces.
• Bright/dim light.
• Poorly-ventilated areas.
• Noisy conditions.
• Heights.
