Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is a 295-bed acute care facility in Somerset, part of Lifepoint Health. We are seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors through proactive monitoring and prompt response to threats.

The role requires strong decision-making, independence, calm under pressure, and proficiency with MS Office. Healthcare security experience and a valid driver's license are preferred and required respectively.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • Current, valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Healthcare security experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of verifiable security experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proactive monitoring and respond promptly to security threats.
  • Investigate and manage all security incidents on hospital premises.
  • Maintain knowledge of alarms and disaster preparedness policies.
  • Facilitate drills and simulations for emergency preparedness.
  • Provide assistance and information to staff and visitors to promote safety.

How you'll contribute

A Security Officer who excels in this role:

  • Perform proactive monitoring and respond promptly to potential or actual security threats
  • Investigate and manage all security incidents and hazards on hospital premises
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to policies regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness
  • Facilitate drills and simulations for emergency preparedness
  • Provide assistance and information to staff and visitors to promote safety

What we're looking for
Security Officer
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline preferred
Experience
  • Service in active-duty military, reserves, National Guard, or auxiliary police/cadet programs preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable and successful security experience required
  • Healthcare security experience preferred
  • At least six (6) months of customer interaction experience preferred
Licenses
  • Current, valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong critical thinking and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to remain calm and take appropriate action in stressful situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English
