Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Health Information Management Director to lead departmental goals, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee patient data and information systems.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, coordinate audits, and drive professional growth while maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; applicable experience may be substituted.
• RHIT or RHIA certification required or preferred for the role.
• Ability to think critically and make decisive judgments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards in line with regulatory and organizational objectives.
• Directs operations including patient care delivery, information technologies, service levels, and complaint management to meet quality targets.
• Plans staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares and monitors budgets to ensure compliant use of funds.
• Coordinates internal/external audits and drives corrective actions.
• Fosters an environment that supports professional growth.
• Maintains the department's focus in the continuum of care.

How you'll contribute

A Health Information Management Director who excels in this role:

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.

• Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

• Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

What we're looking for

Health Information Management Director

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
  Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education

• Certifications: RHIT or RHIA

• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.

  • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff
