Job summary

Baptist Health System seeks a part-time Security Officer 1 (Unarmed) for night shifts to safeguard staff, patients, and visitors at our San Antonio facilities. You will patrol, monitor entrances, respond to incidents, and document events while providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This role requires physical stamina, ability to wear protective gear, and adherence to hospital security policies. Prior security experience and certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required or equivalent.
• Two to three years in a security role, law enforcement or military background.
• Level II Noncommissioned Security Officer with the Texas Commission on Private Security within 60 days of hire; valid state driver’s license; BLS within 60 days; NVCI within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety through vigilant patrols and monitoring of facility entrances/exits.
• Provide excellent customer service to staff, patients, visitors, and physicians.
• Prepare written reports and document incidents per policy.
• Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and safety concerns calmly and swiftly.
• Wear issued Kevlar vest as part of uniform and enforce access control and parking regulations.

Job Summary

PART-TIME NIGHTS

Security Officer 1 (Unarmed Security) are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with disruptive incidents, emergency services, personal protection and traffic/parking control. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion activities (going up and down multiple flights of stairs, standing and walking for extended periods of time, carrying people in emergency situations, etc.), as needed. Must meet all physical requirements of the job. This could require an annual physical.
• Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (Masks, gowns, security-related equipment, etc.), as required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, as well as an annual background check.
• Effective written and oral communication skills a must (includes using proper grammar and spelling or report writing responsibilities)
• Effective interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment.
• Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service.
• Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently.
• Must wear issued Kevlar Vest under uniform shirt.
• Protect life, property, information and reputation by employing situational awareness; monitoring and securing designated entrances/exits; observing flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors into the facility; verifying credentials and providing directions to authorized areas.
• Evaluate and respond in a timely manner to events and incidents in accordance to System policies.
• Provides exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
• Respond immediately, or as appropriate, to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires and medical emergencies (i.e. including but not limited to restraining agitated patients in accordance with Tenet Corporate Security and facility policy).
• Prepares and submits all required incident documentation according to Tenet Corporate Security and facility policies and procedures.
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements needed for position.
• Control and regulate pedestrian and vehicle traffic, when volume and events require, in an orderly and safe manner.
• Enforce facility access control policy and parking regulations.
• Provide safety escorts and assistance to employees, patients and visitors.
• Patrols and protects the facilities by foot and/or vehicle to detect or prevent illegal/unauthorized activities.
• Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations utilizing identified Tenet Corporate Security processes.
• Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
