Job summary

UPMC Bedford is seeking a fulltime Security Officer to protect patients, staff, and visitors across our facilities. The role involves patrolling, responding to incidents, and maintaining access control on secured areas.

The position offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment to UPMC. Successful candidates will participate in ongoing training and support the hospital's safety and security operations.

Responsibilities

• Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas
• Provides customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff to maintain a safe and secure environment
• Inspects incoming and outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft
• Responds to and resolves problems, disputes and unusual circumstances as necessary
• Maintains required certifications and licensing
• Assists with traffic control and vehicle assists
• Transports deceased to morgue/release bodies from morgue
• Monitors security, fire, and environmental alarms, responds to alarms and assists when needed
• Establishes a uniformed security presence by patrolling hospital grounds and buildings and coordinates with UPMC Police Officers when necessary
• Operates UPMC vehicles in accordance with Pennsylvania Vehicle Code
• Conducts patient escorts and stand-by details
• Completes all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines
• Reports and documents incidents, suspicious activities and hazards

• Complete all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines
