Virtua Health is seeking a Security Officer to manage daily security operations across assigned areas in New Jersey. The role ensures safety, conducts risk assessments, and documents incidents to support hospital operations.

Responsibilities include training staff, conducting rounds, and coordinating with leadership, nursing, and law enforcement. The position requires a HS diploma and a valid driver’s license, with SORA preferred.

Summary

Position Responsibilities

• Aid in training security officers.
• Educate trains and drills hospital staff on responding to emergency situations.
• Provide assistance in Environment of Care rounds and Joint Commission Surveys.
• Perform the duties associated with all assigned posts including but not limited to walking and mobile security and safety rounds; stationary posts; one-to-one observer; traffic control and special assignments.; responsible for overseeing weapon screening utilizing handheld wands and the operation of the weapon screening system, investigations, incident reports and shift logs; access control; infant protection and the security of sensitive areas.
• Provide daily operational support to the Lieutenant, Chief or Director and as needed assume responsibility for the operations of the department.
• Collaborates and effectively communicates (verbal and written) with division team members; officer-in-charge (OIC); immediate supervisor; Nursing Supervisor; Division Management; Health System security teams; and law enforcement agencies.
• Provides directions and when warranted escorts visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside of the facilities and parking lots. Verify all staff are wearing ID badges and the public (visitors, vendors, contractors, etc.) obtain proper ID bands, passes and badges. Fabricates ID badges.
• Respond to maintenance issues during off hours and if needed, contact appropriate personnel for resolution.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

2 or more years’ experience in security or comparable role.

Required Education

HS diploma or equivalent.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Valid driver’s license required. Must be at least 21 years of age and meet insurance requirements.

NJ Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certified preferred.

Salary:

$18.89 - $27.81 Hourly
