Job summary

  • Enforce rules for safeguarding facilities and equipment.
  • Report disturbances or suspicious activities to authorities.
  • Lock and unlock buildings and ensure gates/doors are secure.
  • Assist in emergencies as needed.
  • Ensure proper badge usage for entry.

Job description

Summary

This position reports directly to the Director of Asset Protection and Security. The Regional AP & Security Manager is responsible for protecting, safeguarding, and securing all Goodwill’s property, personnel, customers, and visitors against unauthorized entry, loss or damage from theft, fire, or other causes. Responsibilities also include enforcing rules or regulations at a building or area where people congregate.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Conduct security patrols inside and outside buildings or designated areas, observing for potential threats such as prowlers, fire, theft, embezzlement, sabotage, accidents, or any other danger that could result in loss or damage to property.
  • Write reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations.
  • Investigate and write reports when the alarm is activated for any reason.
  • Assists customers, employees, and visitors as needed.
  • Enforces rules and regulations about the safeguarding of assigned facilities.
  • Report disturbances or suspicious activities immediately to the proper authority.
  • Ensures that lights are off or on as required and that gates and doors are correctly locked; notes and reports any faulty lights and equipment that may need replacing or repair.
  • Assist in any emergency situation as needed.
  • Ensures that everyone wears the correct badge when entering the building or the premises.
  • Opens and closes the building as scheduled or as needed. The post cannot be left unattended, and the gates cannot be left open.
  • Question prowlers and unauthorized persons discovered in restricted areas and call the Police Department, via radio or telephone, when circumstances require such action.
  • Prevents unauthorized persons from entering assigned closed parts of buildings, facilities or grounds; maintains records of people and vehicles entering and leaving the property after closing or weekends.
  • Reports all absences and tardiness to the Human Resources Director as soon as possible, allowing for prompt adjustments to the schedule and ensuring uninterrupted coverage of the premises.
  • May be required to work different shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain routine records and reports
  • Ability to detect possible improper conduct, analyze the situation, and take appropriate action to correct or report the condition.
  • Ability to walk long hours alone, both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crises. Ability to work Overtime as required.
  • Ability to remain alert on evening and night shifts if assigned.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public as required.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.
  • Ability to operate a two-way radio.
  • All other duties as assigned.
