UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a Full-time Security Officer for the third shift to monitor facilities, respond to alarms, and support safety operations.

The role requires vigilant observation, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to work calmly under stress. You will enforce access control, assist during emergencies, and help maintain a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Qualifications

Read accurately and comprehend; write clearly to complete legal reports and narratives.
Interpret safety rules, codes, and policies from written materials.
Listen effectively and communicate through clear speech and hearing.
Safely operate vehicles, equipment, and radios.
Use basic hospital/security applications and information systems.

Responsibilities

Performs all security-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor and informs of unusual activities.
Responds to alarms, determines the alarm source, and provides proper assistance.
Maintains and uses issued equipment including radio devices; follows laws and policies.
Provides initial direction and support in emergencies; conducts facility lockdowns and screens visitors after hours.
Documents crimes, incidents, and safety irregularities per policy.
Assesses incidents with regard to age of individuals involved; gathers information and completes documents accurately.
Intervenes in disputes using de-escalation techniques and manages aggressive behavior.
Administers initial first aid as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Third Shift

Work hours: 9:45pm - 6:15am

Days off: Monday & Tuesday off OR Thursday & Friday

Performs all security-related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor and keeps them informed of unusual activities and events.

Acknowledges and responds to alarms, determines the source of the alarm, and provides proper assistance.

Utilizes and maintains all issued and operated equipment, including radio equipment, and complies with all applicable laws and department policies and procedures.

Provides initial direction and support in emergency situations, performs facility lockdowns, and screens visitors and employees seeking entry after hours.

Documents all crimes, incidents, and safety-related irregularities per department policy and procedure.

Assesses situations with consideration for the age of individuals involved, gathers information pertaining to incidents such as thefts and accidents, and accurately completes appropriate documents in the correct format.

Intercedes in disputes, both physical and verbal, using verbal de-escalation techniques, and manages aggressive behavior utilizing authorized training techniques.

Administers initial first aid as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.

Understanding of Emergency Management principles.[Preferred]
40-hour Security Officer training.[Preferred]
