Job summary

UW Health Beaver Dam is recruiting a Security Officer to help keep patients, visitors and staff safe. You will patrol hospital grounds, assist with directions and act as a first responder to emergencies and disturbances.

Evening hours have a $3.00/hr differential after 3:00 pm and weekend shifts include a $3.25/hr differential, with weekend, evening and night coverage required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
• Associate's Degree or progress towards a degree in criminal justice field or a Bachelor’s Degree in any other field of study Preferred.

• Patrol hospital grounds to assist visitors with directions and act as the first responder to emergencies and disturbances.
• Interact with law enforcement, patients, visitors and staff regarding any security or safety issues.
• Properly document daily activities and write detailed and at times lengthy incident reports using computer software programs.
• Monitor and operate access control systems, security camera systems, intercoms, two-way radios, telephones, and alarm systems.

Education

Work Schedule

40% FTE. Scheduled shifts are 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm on weekends. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay

• Overtime
• Weekend, evening & night shift differential
• For evening hours - after 3:00 pm you will earn an additional $3.00/hr.
• On Saturday and Sunday, you will earn an additional $3.25/hr.

Work Experience

• Prior experience healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• If position requires driving a company vehicle, the following requirements apply: Must be 21 years of age to drive a UW Health Fleet vehicle, and must be 25 years of age to drive a UW Health vehicle rated for 15 or more passengers Ability to be insured by Hospital’s risk management insurer which requires (1) a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and (2) successfully passing a driving background check Required
• Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety within 12 months Preferred
