Responsibilities

Summary: This position coordinates security activities on a specific shift in a residential re-entry center, leading staff to maintain security coverage.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow post orders.
  • Conduct resident counts.
  • Lead staff and residents, train new employees, resolve issues, develop schedules, monitor posts, approve leave, and manage resident work.
  • Report unauthorized activities or absences.
  • Maintain logs and conduct facility checks.
  • Ensure staffing adequacy and participate in staff evaluations.
  • Coordinate staff training and monitor safety practices.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, visitors, and the public.
  • Prepare reports and conduct inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Perform surveillance and security checks.
  • Handle emergencies calmly and effectively.
  • Complete training and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year as a Monitor I or two years related experience; leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of community correctional operations and related laws/regulations.
  • Ability to write legible reports in English with correct grammar.
  • Ability to plan, motivate, control, schedule, train, and respond to emergencies.
  • Flexibility to work any shift.
  • Computer skills and software proficiency.
