The Security Manager provides strategy and activities related to information security and physical security of the property(s). The Security Manager leads and directs a team responsible for designing and implementing an overall enterprise security strategy, program, and architecture that minimizes loss and meets client and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assists in loss control procedures.
- Coordinates information from the VP and other supervisors with the Security staff to meet all Fairstead Management requirements.
- Develops and trains Security staff.
- Ensures correct and orderly flow of activities from shift to shift.
- Leads investigations of security matters.
- Monitors shift security reports and activity logs.
- Supervises shift activity, including reports, incidents, patrolling, dispatching, activity logs, and other activities on shift.
- Coaches, counsels, and reviews performance of guards to ensure proper conduct of day‑to‑day duties.
- Recommends actions regarding security matters.
- Maintains current certification in first aid and CPR.
- Applies effective apprehension techniques and arrest procedures per State Criminal Procedure Law and Penal Law.
- Familiar with fire procedures.
- Ensures Security staff maintain a high visibility profile throughout the community.
- Conducts periodic community patrols (guard area, package rooms, outer perimeters, parking lots, and resident access facilities).
- Relays pertinent information to relief shift.
- Administers first‑aid when necessary.
- Recognizes and reports safety hazards.
- Monitors energy conservation controls and implements corrective action as needed.
- Maintains effective communication with all managers and employees.
- Handles any Security–related situations that arise on shift, keeping the best interests of the community in mind.
- Ensures compliance with Facility Management and Security SOPs and L SOPs.
- Observes and reports any security breaches.
- Assists the GM in any other applicable areas.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
- At least 3‑5 years of related experience.
- Strong working knowledge of pertinent law and the law enforcement community.
- Experience with business continuity planning, investigations, risk management, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable in information technology and information security.
- Ability to evaluate and assess immediate security needs and requirements.
- Ability to handle company confidentiality and sensitivity of security issues.
- Valid NY State Security License required.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from management, vendors, and associates.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Salary Range: $85,000—$95,000 USD.
