The Security Manager is responsible for leading East Penn’s physical security, asset protection, security investigations, and emergency preparedness programs. This role protects employees, contractors, visitors, company assets, facilities, and operations by developing and maintaining effective security policies, risk-based controls, incident response practices, and contract security oversight.

The Security Manager works cross-functionally with Personnel, Environmental Health & Safety, Legal, operations leadership, and local law enforcement to maintain a safe, secure, and resilient workplace while supporting uninterrupted business operations.

This position’s primary location is based in our corporate offices in Lyon Station, PA with periodic travel to other sites.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Physical Security Program Management
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company’s physical security program.
• Maintain security policies, procedures, and standards aligned with company objectives and applicable requirements.
• Conduct periodic security risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and facility reviews.
• Develop and track mitigation plans for identified security risks and control gaps.
• Establish program metrics, reporting practices, and corrective action follow-up to support continuous improvement.
• Facility Security
• Oversee facility security controls and recommend enhancements to strengthen protection of people, property, and operations, including:
• Access control systems and badge administration
• Visitor, contractor, and vehicle access management
• Key, lock, gate, and perimeter control
• CCTV surveillance and intrusion detection systems
• Security lighting, signage, barriers, and related physical safeguards
• Monitor the effectiveness of security systems and processes, identify gaps, and recommend upgrades or corrective actions as appropriate.
• Contract Security Management
• Manage third-party contract security providers and hold vendors accountable for service quality, staffing, training, and performance expectations.
• Review security staffing models, post orders, schedules, and coverage needs.
• Ensure contract officers receive appropriate site‑specific training and understand applicable company procedures.
• Evaluate service deficiencies, incident response quality, and officer performance concerns.
• Implement corrective actions and maintain documentation of vendor performance issues and resolutions.
• Incident Management and Security Investigations
• Lead or support timely, objective, and well‑documented investigations involving security‑related incidents, including:
• Workplace violence, threats, trespassing, and unauthorized access
• Theft, asset loss, fraud, property damage, and vandalism
• Suspicious activity, security policy violations, and related misconduct
• Incidents requiring coordination with Personnel, Legal, operations leadership, or law enforcement
• Ensure investigative documentation, evidence preservation, confidentiality, and corrective action follow‑up are handled in accordance with company expectations and applicable requirements.
• Asset Protection
• Develop and implement asset protection strategies to safeguard company facilities, inventory, equipment, information, and other critical assets from theft, fraud, misuse, damage, and loss.
• Identify asset protection risks and partner with appropriate leaders to implement practical controls and preventive measures.
• Analyze incident trends, loss drivers, and control weaknesses to support targeted corrective actions.
• Partner with Personnel, Legal, and other appropriate teams to evaluate incidents, recommend corrective actions, and support internal or external security investigations when necessary.
• Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity
• Maintain and support emergency response planning for security‑related events and business disruptions, including:
• Active threats and workplace violence incidents
• Fire emergencies, natural disasters, severe weather, and utility failures
• Hazardous material incidents and civil disturbances
• Business disruptions and facility access interruptions
• Emergency drills, exercises, and after‑action reviews
• Coordinate with EHS, operations leadership, first responders, and other stakeholders to support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
• Security Operations
• Oversee routine patrols, inspections, alarm reviews, and security system monitoring.
• Review incident reports, security trends, and operational metrics to identify recurring risks and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure security equipment remains operational and coordinate timely repair, maintenance, or replacement.
• Maintain effective visitor, contractor, and delivery security procedures.
• Communicate security expectations and incident trends to appropriate leaders and stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications

• Ten or more years of progressive physical security, asset protection, law enforcement, military, or related experience.
• Five or more years of leadership experience in security operations or a related function.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or critical infrastructure environments preferred.
• Experience managing contract security personnel and third‑party security providers.
• Experience conducting security investigations, preparing reports, preserving evidence, and coordinating corrective actions.
• Experience developing emergency response plans and working with law enforcement, first responders, and internal stakeholders.
• Training in professional interview and investigative techniques, such as Wicklander‑Zulawski, Reid Institute, or equivalent, preferred.

Education/Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent military, law enforcement, security leadership, or relevant operational experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• One or more of the following certifications is preferred:
• ASIS International Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
• Physical Security Professional (PSP)
• Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)
• FEMA Emergency Management Institute coursework or related emergency management training

Active certification, or the ability to obtain or renew certification within 180 days upon appointment is required.

• Strong knowledge of physical security principles, asset protection practices, security investigations, access control, CCTV, incident response, and emergency preparedness.
• Ability to lead through influence, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively with employees, leaders, vendors, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
• Strong analytical, documentation, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and objectivity.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing or industrial environment.

Familiarity and experience working with VDA ISA Physical Security Requirements

Work Schedule

• Core working hours Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work at varied times as required to accomplish the goals and deliverables of their exempt position
• Primary location is based in our corporate offices.
• Occasional travel to various East Penn locations (up to 10%)

Working conditions

• Regular visits to Plant environments that includes heat, cold, fumes, odors, dust, and loud conditions

Physical requirements

• Ability to walk large manufacturing facilities and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders as required.
• Ability to respond to emergencies, including outside normal business hours when needed.
