Job summary

East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc. is seeking a Foreperson to manage the 3rd shift (11:30p-8:05a) and drive safe, efficient production. You will coordinate with scheduling, oversee material flow, and lead a team in daily management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include supervising quality checks, maintaining housekeeping, and engaging employees to achieve production goals. Strong leadership and safety focus are required.

Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Foreperson who will be responsible for the overall safe, efficient, and effective operation of their assigned department to meet established production goals. The Foreperson will also maintain housekeeping standards, tour readiness, and effective communication and engagement with all co-workers. Provide overall direction of the department(s) in coordination with their peers on the opposite shifts.

Hours: 3rd shift, 11:30p-8:05a

Responsibilities
  • Production/Operations
  • Ensures required materials are available for production and monitors inventory levels within the plant.
  • Completes end of shift communication and paperwork.
  • Collaborates with the scheduling department to create a plan that prioritizes work centers and materials to promote production.
  • Communicates with prior shift supervision and incoming shift supervision on departmental issues.
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintains and updates Daily Management Board’s (DMB).
  • Conducts and participates in DMB reviews as prescribed.
  • Promotes a culture of Continuous Improvement using Lean/Quality tools and practices.
  • Responsible for verification of non-conforming products before and after disposition is performed.
  • Ensures work areas are organized and efficient, with visual management and standards in place.
  • Ensures 1st Piece process is handled appropriately in the department.
  • Responsible for product quality in department; performs assigned quality checks/audits.
  • Ensures quality issues/concerns are communicated and assist in containment evaluation to quantity affected.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Conducts/completes accident investigations in cooperation with Health and Safety and recommends ergonomic consultation to employees for injury prevention.
  • Conducts Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) audits daily and at prescribed intervals.
  • Ensures environmental and safety inspections are completed daily and at prescribed intervals.
  • Resolves uniform or respirator issues/shortages.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping is maintained for the department.
  • Supports fire/evacuation drills as prescribed.
  • Maintains employee attendance for medical visits, blood lead samplings, and hearing tests.
  • Maintenance
  • Coaches operators on minor repairs and fixes breakdowns and/or other machine issues (as needed).
  • Works with the Maintenance Department to resolve larger issues.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance (as required).
  • Prepares work orders as needed.
  • Schedules, plans, and monitors Maintenance/Machine Reliability Events (MRE).
  • Employee Engagement
  • Works with Personnel to address employee issues/concerns.
  • Engages and educates employees.
  • Completes Lead Discovery and Strategies for Everyday Engagement (SEE) training and consistently applies its principles by actively engaging with and recognizing high-performing employees.
  • Administrative
  • Delivers paperwork to the office.
  • Drops off/picks up mail.
  • Reviews, verifies, and submits Human Machine Interface (HMI) timecards and/or HMI paper timecards.
  • Personnel
  • Completes employee documentation.
  • Completes 30/60/90 evaluations.
  • Completes required supervisor section of the new hire transfer checklist.
  • Reviews, confirms, and authorizes daily time sheets.
  • Responsible for monitoring employee behavior/conduct to ensure compliance with Company policy.
  • Responsible for initiating the disciplinary process and recommending and documenting the disciplinary action for employees in conjunction with Plant Management and Personnel team.
  • Meets with employees to administer warnings and violations for Code of Conduct and Attendance issues.
  • Coordinates with plant secretaries and the management team to develop and manage departmental and overtime schedules, ensuring proper staffing and accurate tracking of employee overtime.
  • Communications/Tailgates
  • Completes monthly (or special topic) employee tailgates.
  • Answers, returns work related calls, pages, emails, messages, etc.
  • Communicates regularly with plant management.
  • Attends meetings (e.g., Health & Safety, maintenance).
  • Reviews, acknowledges Management Systems Reporting (MSR) updates.
  • Training
  • Coaches and trains current employees and new hires and assigns trainers when appropriate to support onboarding and skill development.
  • Coordinates and schedules employees to take and complete East Penn Learning courses (SPC, Quality Updates, and other job specific Computer Based training) and annual Health & Safety (H&S) training.
  • Completes employee training forms and sends to the office.
  • Engages in Learning & Development weekly trainee reviews.
  • Attends all training classes required, where applicable. (LOTO, Material Handling, etc.)
  • Coordinates, maintains attendance to job specific classes (LOTO, Confined Space, etc.)
  • Miscellaneous
  • Performs all other duties as required or requested by management.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime.
  • Responsible for producing a high-quality product.
  • Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.
  • This position requires strict adherence to information security protocols when handling sensitive and confidential data.
