The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a Security Manager to supervise the control room, parking and floor operations, directing the protection services team to safeguard the collection, facility, staff, visitors, interns and contractors.

Responsibilities include training, scheduling guards, incident reporting, and coordination with police. The role supports a safe, welcoming environment during evenings and weekends and events.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 3–5 years related experience; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Knowledge of alarm, fire, and video surveillance systems.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as required.

Job description

The Security Manager supervises the control room, parking and floor operations. Manages activities of the museum’s protection services team to provide adequate safety, protection and security for the collection, facility, staff, visitors, interns, volunteers, and contractors. Provides training to staff in safety, security and visitor service as needed.

Requirements and Key Competencies

Associate degree from college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Employee should have excellent interpersonal skills, be dependable, and be willing and available to work evenings and weekends as required. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a variety of situations essential. Able to properly manage conflict resolution in a professional and kind manner. Formulate recommendations for the development or modification of policies and practices that promote diversity, inclusivity, and equity. Participate in professional organizations to promote networking and best practices. Required to be trained and certified in First Aid and CPR. Knowledge of experience of alarm, fire, and video surveillance systems.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule gallery guards for floor operations.
  • Fingerprinting and issuance of security identification badges.
  • Manages all functions of the protection services parking area.
  • Supervises and participates in museum opening and closing procedures.
  • Manage floor operations during public hours and events.
  • Assumes gallery or post duties as necessary to cover lunch/break reliefs or as other circumstances dictate.
  • Investigates and writes incident reports such as accidents, thefts, and other security related events. Reports and submits incidents to security operation.
  • Resolves and recommend solutions to various departmental and employee problems and situations.
  • Proposes updates to departmental documents, as necessary.
  • Required to fill in when needed to maintain a proper level of security management in the building. On call as needed.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training gallery guards, security supervisors and night watch personnel.
  • Prepares disciplinary reports and presents to staff.
  • Cooperates with police, fire and civil defense authorities as needed.
  • Provides training of first aid and CPR, safety, customer service and other duties.
  • Manages lost and found.
  • Conducts roll call daily. Informs staff of appropriate information.
  • Serves as primary contact on weekends, evenings and holidays concerning visitor service issues and building safety concerns.
  • Continues education and training in related fields to improve quality of services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position works 40 hours per week on second shift with an annual salary of $60,000.
