Job summary

Overview

Omni Providence is a landmark hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, adjacent to the Convention Center, Amica Mutual Pavilion, and Providence Place Mall. The hotel welcomes guests to a welcoming environment built on strong hospitality foundations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Security staff, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skill to meet job expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching.
  • Ensure all required training occurs, including orientation, safety, fire, alcohol awareness, food handling, and blood‑borne pathogen training.
  • Supervise and patrol all areas of the hotel, including grounds and parking lots, and investigate any unusual circumstances or safety violations.
  • Know, perform, and train security staff in safety, security, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain constant emergency readiness and respond immediately to all emergency alarms and calls for help.
  • Determine course of action, notify appropriate management and authorities, and perform basic first aid as needed.
  • Enforce the hotel’s No Solicitation Policy and escort suspicious or undesirable persons off property if necessary.
  • Witness cash handling when required.
  • Conduct investigations of security incidents and complete security forms documenting incidents, property damage, or personal injury.
  • Write concise daily security reports, noting any incidents of theft, accidents, injuries, and safety matters.
  • Turn in hotel keys and other security equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled and remain on time for work and all meetings.
  • Maintain a consistent professional and positive attitude when communicating with guests and associates.
  • Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other significant matters to management for corrective action.
  • Practice safe work habits and comply with sanitary, safety, security, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned, and participate in task forces and committees as requested.
  • Complete any other duties or tasks requested by management.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school education plus schooling in law enforcement, loss prevention, or a related major.
  • Two or more years of related experience.
  • Alcohol awareness and first aid certification preferred, with familiarity with hospitality industry practices.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective supervision of staff, daily operations, and problem resolution in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interview, hire, schedule, motivate, train, monitor, and address staff performance.
  • Understanding and compliance with safety and security policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to remain calm, take proper steps, and direct others in an emergency.
  • Competence in maintaining privacy and confidentiality of Company, hotel, brand, and guest information.
  • Strong analytical skills to compile facts, identify issues, and resolve basic matters.
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and efficient time management.
  • Proficiency operating a computer, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
  • Consistent professional attitude, effective listening and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under pressure.
  • Compliance with all applicable legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.
