Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Commercial Installer to work onsite with commercial clients, installing and programming integrated fire and security systems. You may dismantle and reassemble equipment as needed.

You will read blueprints, follow wiring diagrams, and ensure safety while coordinating with police/fire departments. Opportunities for leadership and mentorship are available on larger projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Install devices and dismantle/reconstruct equipment as required by the customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Work safely to avoid injuries and protect property, and clean up installation debris.
• Coordinate with customers on installation dates and verify schedules.
• Prepare estimates per supervisor guidance and follow wiring diagrams.
• Test system operation and connection to the monitoring center.
• Read building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and handle emergency notifications.
• May lead installation teams on larger projects and mentor less experienced installers.

What you will do

As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their Integrated Security fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment when necessary.

How you will do it

• Installs appropriate devices; dismantles and reconstructs equipment as required by customer or Tyco Integrated Security.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Contacts customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify schedule.
• Prepares estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions of supervisor.
• Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures.
• Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May manage installation teams on larger projects.
• Coach and mentor less experienced installers.

What we look for

• A high school diploma or GED
• Some technical school training is a plus.
• 3-7 years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.92-$37.01 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
