Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Customer Service Officer for security coverage in our Manhattan location. You will greet guests, monitor doors, and assist visitors while maintaining a professional, vigilant posture during shifts.

Position is part-time, requires valid security licenses or ability to obtain them, and involves weekend hours. The role emphasizes safety, compliant access control, and clear documentation of incidents and routine communications.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses.
• Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent.
• Must have reliable means of communication and transportation.
• Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and friendly, professional demeanor.
• Neat and professional appearance.
• Computer skills and ability to operate security/communication devices.
• Write routine log entries and incident reports.
• Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional demeanor while aiding customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain a visible presence in the facility/building.
• Monitor the environment for suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic and know customers, tenants, and guests.
• Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, guests professionally.
• Answer questions and assist guests and employees in a customer-focused manner.
• Answer phones professionally.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances/exits.
• Know and enforce facility policies and procedures.
• Perform required patrols on foot or in vehicle.
• Monitor for theft and ensure authorized removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures.
• Monitor alarms and systems as required.
• Prepare reports on accidents/incidents/suspicious activity.
