Job summary

Lakeside Behavioral Health System in Memphis, TN seeks a Security and Transportation Technician to safeguard facilities, patients, staff and visitors and to provide reliable transport within the campus.

The role emphasizes safety procedures, crisis response, courteous service and attention to detail; requires a valid driver license and preferably 1 year of psychiatric-care or security experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma.
• Experience: One-year experience working with a psychiatric patient population and or security preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Valid Driver License.
• Knowledge: Basic reading and writing ability; knowledge of typical safety and security procedures; sound judgment and decision-making skills; crisis management or emergency response procedures; trustworthiness; basic customer service skills, and telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside’s comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.

Job Description

The Security and Transportation Technician ensures the safety and security of the hospital buildings and grounds, its patients, employees and guests. The Security and Transportation Technician also provides safe, efficient transportation services to patients of Lakeside Behavioral Health System.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma.

Experience: One-year experience working with a psychiatric patient population and or security preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Valid Driver License

Knowledge: Basic reading and writing ability; knowledge of typical safety and security procedures; sound judgment and decision-making skills; skills in crisis management or in implementing emergency response procedures; trustworthiness; basic customer service skills, and telephone etiquette. Familiarity with basic automotive maintenance; basic auto repair skills, such as ability to change flat tire, ability to check fluid levels and add fluids, ability to check tire inflation, etc.; ability to operate wheelchair lift.
