Job summary

Urban Ventures, serving South Minneapolis in partnership with Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, seeks a part-time security associate to safeguard staff, students, and community members. You will patrol multiple campus buildings, issue IDs, assist visitors, and report incidents with a focus on safety and service.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of related experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of two years' prior security or related experience preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and secure campus buildings and grounds and report hazards.
• Ensure safety and well-being of staff, students, and visitors.
• Create access cards and staff/student IDs as needed.
• Provide directions and information to visitors and staff.
• Monitor parking and respond to emergencies or non-emergencies.
• Write incident reports and maintain daily check-out lists.
• Deliver courteous customer service to students, staff, and vendors.
• Adhere to operating standards and attend reliably.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Major Responsibility

This position is responsible for supporting the facilities of UV and CRJHS and ensuring the safety of staff, students, and community members. The campus, consisting of several buildings, is located in South Minneapolis and serves over 15,000 community members and program participants each year.

Specific Responsibilities

• Patrol and secure buildings and grounds to check for potential security and safety hazards, fire, water leaks, and general building security, reporting all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity
• Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises
• Create access cards and staff/student IDs
• Provide directions to buildings, offices, and other general information to visitors
• Monitor and give direction to ensure proper parking practices are followed
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls; elevate when appropriate
• Write reports on incidents occurring on campus
• Complete a daily check-out list
• Provide reliable and courteous customer service to a variety of people including students, participants, staff, visitors, and vendors
• Uphold company operating standards, including reliable attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Required: High school diploma or GED; minimum of 18 years of age
• Minimum of two years' previous experience; educational or community-based organization environments preferred
• Willingness and capability to follow verbal and written direction
• Proficient technology skills including email, security programs, ID-making equipment, report writing (docs and sheets); Microsoft Office experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and solid relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to respond to the variety of scenarios faced in this role, including but not limited to: in-person conversations, incident reporting, follow-up communications via email, phone, in-person
• An understanding of and respect for the faith-based mission and values of Urban Ventures and Cristo Rey Jesuit High School
• Successfully complete standard background check and required abuse prevention training (Archdiocese) for pre-employment and recurring every two years
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and walking the main campus regularly, and other sites as needed
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 15-25 pounds regularly

Travel:

• Occasional in-town travel to work functions

Schedule:

• 20 hours per week; initial schedule 6:30 -10:30 am M-F
• Occasional evenings/weekends for special events (1-3 per year)
