• Respond to disturbances, emergencies or medical situations as needed.
• Contact church leadership or emergency services when necessary.
• Document incidents and report observations promptly to leadership.
• Assist with crowd flow and visitor direction during activities.
• Support evacuation or lockdown procedures as directed by leadership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by church leadership.

Job description

Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. is seeking a dependable and professional Part-Time Security Guard to help maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for members, visitors, staff, volunteers, and guests. The Security Guard will provide a visible presence during worship services, church events, office hours, and special activities; monitor the church property; respond appropriately to safety concerns; and support the mission and values of the church through courteous and respectful service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor church buildings, grounds, entrances, parking areas, and other assigned areas before, during, and after services, meetings, and special events via camera surveillance.
• Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols to identify safety hazards, suspicious activity, unsecured doors, unauthorized visitors, or other security concerns.
• Maintain a professional and approachable presence while assisting members, visitors, staff, and volunteers as needed.
• Help manage access to designated areas and ensure doors, gates, and facilities are secure according to church procedures.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, medical situations, safety concerns, or potential threats.
• Contact church leadership, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, or other emergency personnel when necessary.
• Document and report incidents, observations, hazards, or unusual activity to designated church leadership in a timely manner.
• Assist with crowd flow, parking lot awareness, visitor direction, and general safety support during church activities.
• Support evacuation, shelter-in-place, lockdown, or other emergency procedures as directed by church leadership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by authorized church leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military service, public safety, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet all church employment requirements.
• Strong observation, communication, judgment, and conflict de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional in stressful or emergency situations.
• Ability to walk, stand, patrol, and remain alert for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, or emergency response training is preferred but not required unless otherwise specified by the church.
• Must support and respect the mission, values, ministries, and environment of Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Inc.

Schedule and Work Environment

This is a part-time position. Work hours may include Sundays, evenings, weekends, holidays, funerals, meetings, rehearsals, community events, and other church-sponsored activities as scheduled. The position may require work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Finance Coordinator and Church Administrative Manager.
