Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Guard Juvenile Center Control Access in Jamaica, NY to safeguard clients across government service locations. The role is full-time with daytime shifts and an hourly rate of $18.87, offering on-site responsibilities and a focus on customer service and access control.

The officer will patrol interiors and exteriors, verify credentials, respond to incidents, and maintain logs while upholding a respectful, professional environment for the public and families

Qualifications

• Possess at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and members of the public by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities at a government services location.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including entrances, offices, common areas, and perimeter locations, to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials and/or authorization in accordance with site procedures, and maintain accurate logs and incident reports.
• Support a respectful and professional environment for individuals and families receiving public services while reporting security-related concerns, hazards, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
