Job description

Summary

The Security Guard II is a position within the security and protective service field. Guards in this role provide security services under limited supervision from a Lead Security Guard. They perform fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols, maintaining situational awareness and making decisions based on established protocols. Duties may include working in austere conditions, including inclement weather, while performing surveillance, walking, standing, or sitting tasks essential to security functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Informing supervisors of unusual occurrences and important events.
  • Monitoring alarms, radio traffic, and other information sources, and dispatching or informing others as needed.
  • Reporting and addressing fire alarms, burglar alarms, criminal acts, and suspicious behaviors.
  • Screening and inspecting vehicles and pedestrians entering or exiting the facility.
  • Preventing prohibited articles from entering or leaving the facility.
  • Escorting individuals or vehicles as per protocols.
  • Using communication devices appropriately.
  • Monitoring all equipment and reporting damages or losses.
  • Logging property movements and ensuring security of government property.
  • Conducting patrols and inspections, issuing vehicle passes, and monitoring access control systems.
  • Monitoring facility equipment and utility systems, reporting deficiencies.
  • Performing surveillance for unauthorized activities and breaches.
  • Providing additional security support during events or emergencies.
  • Maintaining logs and administrative documents.
  • Cooperating with law enforcement and testifying as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Access Requirements

Access to government facilities is mandatory. Denial or revocation of access may lead to termination if minimum qualifications cannot be met.

Supervision

The position operates within established guidelines; deviations must be approved or reported immediately.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least 2 years of security or military law enforcement experience or an equivalent position.
  3. One year of experience demonstrating the ability to follow directions and meet attendance requirements.
  4. State Armed Security Guard license.
  5. Valid driver's license.
  6. Fluency in English.
  7. Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and physical exams.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. First Aid/CPR certification.
  2. Experience with Glock and AR 15 platforms.
  3. Basic computer skills.
