Position Function

• Under direct supervision of the Principal to patrol school buildings and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Functions

• Provides for the safety and security of students, staff, visitors and school district property in accordance with school district policies.
• Conducts ongoing security patrols of grounds on foot to ensure a safe school environment.
• Enforces Board policies regarding smoking, vaping, parking, loitering, trespassing, theft, vandalism, property damage, alcohol, drug abuse, and other school rules and regulations.
• Reports concerns and incidents which may require corrective action to the principal and/or designee.
• Encourages appropriate student conduct with regard to school rules and regulations
• Monitors entrances and exits and prevents unauthorized access of the buildings.
• Assists school administrators with investigations as assigned.
• Monitors grounds in afternoons and evenings to prevent loitering and improper parking of vehicles.
• Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
• Provide support in case of campus emergencies.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Moderate physical activity; requires handling of average-weight objects and standing or walking for extended periods of time.

Qualifications Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

• High School Diploma or GED; Associates degree preferred
• Successful experience in security or law enforcement
• Experience working with adolescents preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of basic First Aid, preferred
• Experience working in public safety, preferred
• Valid Driver's License, required
