Allied Universal in Washington, DC is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced to provide reliable, on-site security at a government-related location. The role offers fixed shifts with the option to pick up extra shifts through our scheduling platform.

You will perform unarmed patrols, monitor access, report incidents, and maintain accurate logs. The position requires at least 1 year of security experience, a high school diploma, and a willingness to obtain or maintain required

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required by federal/state/local laws.
• Drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors at a government-related location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings and perimeter locations.
• Monitor access to restricted areas and report unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
• Respond to incidents calmly and follow post orders and escalation procedures.
• Prepare clear activity logs and incident reports detailing patrol findings.

Pay Rate: $28.00 / Hour

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and/or contractors at a government-related location by carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, access points, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and/or policy violations.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unauthorized access attempts or suspicious activity to appropriate site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity logs and incident reports, documenting patrol findings, observations, and actions taken.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 1 year of security‑related experience is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
