Job description

BASIC FUNCTION (Primary Purpose):

The Security Guard EMT ensures the safety of all people and property at the location by monitoring traffic into and out of the premises, and by performing other related responsibilities that contribute to the safety of the location. In emergencies, this role responds and provides appropriate treatment and transportation assistance to ensure the safety of sick or injured individuals at the site.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Administer first-aid treatment to sick or injured persons and transport them to medical facilities if necessary.
2. Assist in the removal of injured persons from accident scenes.
3. Communicate with medical professionals regarding treatment and handling of sick or injured individuals.
4. Complete and maintain all necessary records, logs, and paperwork related to services provided.
5. Guard the entrance gate to control traffic in and out of the plant.
6. Direct visitors, contractors, and truck drivers to appropriate locations within the plant.
7. Inspect outgoing traffic to prevent unauthorized removal of company property.
8. Answer phones and transfer calls to appropriate departments.
9. Perform routine inspections of fire extinguishers and maintain inventory.
10. Assist in training co-workers as needed.
11. Log visitors, vendors, and contractors upon entry into the plant.
12. Perform general cleanup of work areas.
13. Maintain protective service equipment and vehicles.
14. Update safety management boards and communicate weather-related alerts to plant personnel.
15. Conduct onsite drug or alcohol tests as directed by management.
16. Train for and assist in Technical Rescue operations.

Scope:

Control access for all personnel—including employees, visitors, contractors, and truck drivers—to the mill and perform other duties related to protecting people and property. Provide emergency care and transportation assistance as needed.

Supervises: None

Reports to: Safety Manager

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• EVOV and precepted EMT-B certification or higher
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders, balance, bend, kneel, sit, and stand/walk for long periods
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts

Metrics for Success:

• All personnel on company property are accounted for at all times
• A ready supply of fire extinguishers is maintained
• All sick or injured persons receive appropriate emergency care
