Job summary

North Slope Borough is seeking a dependable Security Guard to patrol and secure company facilities in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, protecting property, personnel, and assets from fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry.

The role requires vigilance, the ability to respond to emergencies, and coordination with maintenance and other departments. Housing is not provided, and a background check is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Must pass a criminal history background check (IHLC).

Responsibilities

• Tour premises periodically and secure doors and access points.
• Ensure visitors sign in and out after hours.
• Answer phone calls and forward messages to appropriate departments.
• Handle and record after-hours maintenance calls.
• Respond promptly to alarms, signals or emergencies.
• Follow reporting procedures on emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Guard business premises to protect company, personal property and personnel against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and other hazards, and refers maintenance and emergency calls.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Tour premises periodically, securing inside and outside areas, offices and storage doors.
• Ensure visitors sign in and out when visiting after hours.
• Answer phone calls and forward messages to appropriate departments.
• Handle and record after-hours maintenance calls.
• Respond immediately to alarms, signals or emergency situations.
• Follow reporting procedures on emergency situations.
• Perform boiler readings, gauge checks and general equipment maintenance.
• Perform janitorial and custodial duties as required.
• Write up building problems and advise Facility Maintenance staff on a daily basis via e-mail.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Certifications And Licenses Required

• High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
• Must pass a criminal history background check. (IHLC only)
