Downtown Pittsburgh, PA at the EVEN Hotel
Your day to day : As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for performing hotel security duties and procedures to ensure the safety and security of guests, employees, and the property, as well as the property’s assets. This position is for the overnight shift from 11pm to 7am, Thursday through Monday.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Perform daily inspections and ensure compliance with hotel security and safety requirements to protect hotel property, employees, and guests against theft, crime, threats, and safety hazards. This includes:
- Patrolling and inspecting assigned areas with specified equipment, including all public areas, meeting rooms, entrances, outside grounds, monitoring surveillance cameras, checking for unauthorized persons or vehicles, coordinating towing, and documenting all actions.
- Maintaining security procedures and logs, including lost and found, guest valuables, key control, emergency procedures, and safety hazards.
- Ensuring all guest room doors are secured, assisting guests with room access, and handling guest possessions or inventory as needed. Escorting staff and guests to vehicles if requested.
- Informing management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats. Scheduling maintenance and repairs for security equipment and ensuring it is operational for the next shift.
- Recording incident reports and relevant information for police, fire agencies, legal, claims, and insurance purposes.
- Responding courteously and promptly to guest incidents, questions, complaints, and requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Promoting teamwork and quality service through communication with other departments, including hotel staff, corporate management, risk management, and legal.
- Performing additional duties as assigned, such as handling deliveries received during non-business hours.
What we need from you :
Qualifications and Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of security and safety experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Fluent English speaking skills.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50-100 pounds.
- Frequently standing, moving about, handling objects, and equipment to secure the facility.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Other :
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and employees.
- Certification or licensing as a Security Officer or Law Enforcement Officer may be required. CPR, First Aid, and law enforcement training are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of local laws, investigation techniques, OSHA requirements, fire, and life safety codes.
- Problem-solving, organizational, and training skills, especially during emergencies.
- Ability to read and write for documenting tasks, instructions, and procedures.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
