Position Summary:
TheSecurity Guardis responsible formaintaininga secure and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and program participants. This position ensures the protection of the organization's facilities,equipment, and people by monitoring site activityandresponding to incidents. Ideal candidates will bring experience working with youth andmarginalizedcommunities andhavethe skills to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitortheentrance, verify identificationof visitors, and prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Conductregularpatrols of the interior and exterior of the premises toidentifypotential safety risks and deter inappropriate activity.
- Inspect the interior and exterior of the premises for any maintenance needs.
- Writereports of daily activities andincidents(i.e.equipment or property damage, unauthorized persons, unusual occurrences).
- Monitor and ensure functionality of security systems, including cameras and alarms, reporting malfunctions, orrequiredmaintenance promptly.
- Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations,including fire, medical, or behavioral crises,and coordinate with emergency responders when needed.
- Usenonviolent conflict resolutionand de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain focus and remain alert throughout long shifts, ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
- Support other teams andother duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
- Climbstairs.
- Runor move quickly to respond quickly to emergencies.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work long hours whileremainingalert and focused.
- Kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas.
- Withstand various weather conditions (i.e.hot, cold, windy, or rainy weather) during outdoor patrols.
- Strongvision and hearing toobservesurroundings and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
Minimum Requirements:
- Securityguardcard/certification.
- CPR certification.
- Basiccomputer skills and ability to use a smartphone.
- Ability to perform necessary physical duties, i.e., walking, standing, and making necessary rounds.
- At least 3 years of security/patrol experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual or multilingual.
- Proficiencyin de-escalation techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and local emergency response protocols.
Pay Rate:
$25-27/hr.;(27.50hours per week)
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Schedule:
Monday-Friday,12:00-6:00 PMwith the exception ofsome weekends and hours outside of the regular scheduleas needed.
