Job summary

The position supports staff and visitors, enforces safety policies, and may involve cooperation with Human Resources on terminations. Florida-licensed guards with 40-hour certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Security Guard Certification (40-hour course) required.
• Law enforcement or military experience preferred.
• CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, EMT training may be preferred.
• Florida D/G license requirements and driving record must be satisfied.

Responsibilities

• Guard, patrol, and monitor premises to deter disturbances.
• Maintain safe environment for customers and employees.
• Investigate disturbances and respond to alarms.
• Possibly respond to emergencies and may be required to use deadly force.
• Assist HR with employee terminations if needed.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and review footage as directed.
• Warn violators and apprehend or eject suspicious individuals.
• Escort staff to parking area after dark.
• Prepare logs and reports as required.
• Support CCM's Christian beliefs in daily operations.

Job description

Summary

Responsible to guard, patrol, and monitor premises to deter disturbances and to facilitate the general security operation of the site. Work closely with the entire CCM leadership team to support the overall mission of the Ministry and impact the Kingdom of God. In order to accomplish their work properly, the Security Guard must be very well organized and have excellent interpersonal skills and motivational competencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees while providing general security duties to our staff and visitors.
• Investigates disturbances and responds to alarms and other calls for assistance.
• May have to respond to complex or serious emergency situations (active shooter, political unrest/protests, bomb threats, hostile employee, suicidal person, medical, etc.) and may be required to use deadly force.
• Assist Human Resources with employee terminations.
• Regularly monitor surveillance cameras and review footage when required/as directed.
• Investigate illegal or suspicious activities.
• Display exceptional customer service and communication skills while greeting and checking in staff and guests.
• Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
• Escort employees to parking area after dark.
• Prepares logs and reports as required.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years’ previous experience in an armed guard role required
• Security Guard Certification (40-hour course) is required
• Law enforcement or military experience is preferred
• First responder and/or armed transport experience is preferred
• Also preferred for this role:
• CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, EMT, and other medical training
• Supplementary security guard training
• NIMS training
• POST from any agency
• An employee in Florida must possess the following:
• "D" License Training – Basic Security Officer Standards, 40-hour course
• "G" License Training – 28-hour course
• Yearly re-qualifications – Firearms re-qualification
• Valid State of Florida Driver’s License (FDL)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required
