Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field technician to perform service and installation commissioning on fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intrusion, and intercom systems in the Jacksonville area. The role requires hands-on work, ability to read blueprints, and a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

You will supervise installations, diagnose faults, and coordinate with customers while maintaining accurate reports and adhering to OSHA policies.

Responsibilities

• Commission service and installation of fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intrusion, and intercom systems.
• Supervise and inspect equipment installation to meet customer specs and manufacturer requirements.
• Evaluate and diagnose equipment needing service and troubleshoot field wiring problems.
• Provide solutions to restore systems cost-effectively and efficiently.
• Manage assigned electronic systems service calls and track labor hours.
• Prepare daily activity reports and communicate with customers.
• May work overtime as required.
• Read blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and manuals to perform tasks.
• Lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds; work in cramped spaces and at heights.
• Adhere to OSHA and Johnson Controls safety policies.
• Complete mileage and vehicle reports in a timely manner.

What you will do

Perform service and new installation commissioning activities on fire alarm, access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm and intercom systems.

How you will do it

• Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer expectations and manufacturer specifications. Field coordination and communication, system programming, commissioning, AHJ testing and training on new systeminstallations
• Evaluate and diagnose equipment that requires servicing as well as troubleshooting potential field wiringproblems
• Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most efficient andcost effectivemethod in restoring a specific system back to normal condition
• Manage assigned Electronic Systems service callsin regards tofield labor hours estimated
• Customer satisfaction through coordination, response to customer requests and problems and clear communication skills
• Prepare reports on dailyactivities
• May berequiredto workovertime
• Read and understand complicated blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, software/system programs, and operation/productmanuals
• Required to lift and or carry equipment and tools, which may be over forty (40) pounds Working environment may involve climbing ladders and scaffoldings with equipment, upwards to forty (40) feet Capable of working in cramped workspaces such as ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
• Must adhere to all OSHA and JCI safety policies andprocedures
• Complete mileage and monthly vehicle reportsin a timely manner

What we look for

Required

• 2-5 years’ experience with installation and service of fire alarm, access control, CCTV,intrusionand intercom systems
• Demonstrate working knowledge of electricity and electronicsInaddition,demonstratean aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs
• Ability to effectively workindependently
• Demonstratea high levelof customerservice
• Be able to carry and move equipment/tools weighing up to 40pounds
• Minimum high school/trade school graduate, military, ortwo yearAssociatedegree in a technical field involving electronics or computers
• Working knowledge of personal computers (Windows 2000, XP, Windows 7) and Microsoft’s suite of Office software
• Working knowledge of IT network systems
• Ability to use hand and power tools and test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibelmetersand communication devices asrequired
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

• NICET certification
• Security experience with P2000 or C-Cure 9000

HIRING HOURLY RANGE

$29.00 – $40.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
