Job summary

GSG Protective Services is seeking a Security Field Supervisor for vehicle patrols at the New York office. The role involves supervising posts, coordinating with dispatch, and ensuring adherence to safety and post orders.

Candidates should have a valid driver’s license, 2 years of security experience, and state security guard permit where required. This is a full-time, on-site position with benefits and multiple shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Perform random and scheduled interior and exterior patrols under varying conditions.
• Detain suspects when necessary for safety of staff and public.
• Evaluate work performance of officers at assigned posts.
• Enforce safety rules and post orders.
• Motivate, train and supervise subordinates.

Job Skills / Requirements

GSG Protective Services is seeking Field Supervisors to provide security and supervision at a variety of sites and posts. Additional duties and responsibilities will be defined in the site-specific post orders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with coverage of standing officer posts as needed and or when directed by dispatch.
• Assist and/or resolve complex situations involving multiple parties that may include violent and/or mentally unstable individuals.
• Conduct checks of designated accounts for any signs of illegal activity, violations of rules and/or other activity as designated.
• Conducts random and/or scheduled interior and exterior walking patrols under varying weather and/or environmental conditions.
• Detain suspects, including violent suspects, when necessary for the safety of GSG employees and the public.
• Evaluate work performance of on duty officers at posts assigned to area/region.
• Implement and enforce all safety rules and procedures established by GSG Protective Services and post specific orders.
• Motivate, train and supervise all subordinates as needed.
• Practice all safety rules and procedures, always, as established by GSG Protective Services to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
• Train new officers on post duties as needed.
• Use computer, cloud and smart phone-based systems to conduct a variety of activities including completion of complicated and complex reports.
• Be alert and attentive while on duty to ensure personal safety and your ability to observe activities, irrelevant of working environment.
• Collaborate with all GSG Protective Services and client staff, irrelevant of position rank or title.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Observe and report various activities on and around the assigned post.
• Additional essential duties will be defined in the Post Orders of the specific post for which the security officer is assigned.

Requirements

• 21+ years of age
• Security Guard Permit as required by state law.

• 2 years security experience

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Listen, understand, summarize, transfer and retain basic instructions and detailed information.
• See, read, and understand policy and procedure manuals, reports, and other written materials.
• See, read, and recognize obstacles in a variety of normal and/or emergency environments. Have vision that is correctable.
• Ability to frequently enter and exit patrol vehicles throughout the assigned shift.
• Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping while using phone, notepad, writing reports and other administrative tasks.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Hear spoken or recorded information.
• Ability to detain a suspect if needed.
• Ability to observe and report activity.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures
• 5 years security or related experience
