Job summary

Amazon’s Specialized Businesses Security team seeks a Security Engineer Manager, SBS Specialized Detections, to lead a detection-focused group in New York, NY. This leadership role balances people management with technical direction to build new detection capabilities and drive strategic outcomes.

You will hire and grow engineers, apply AI to accelerate production-ready detections, and partner with vulnerability intelligence and AI tooling teams to close gaps in Amazon's detection landscape.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing and developing engineering teams.
• 5+ years of progressive work within a software security environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or closely related field; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy for non-Builder Tools detections and specialized SBS detections.
• Hire and develop engineers into detection specialists.
• Apply AI to accelerate detection development and production readiness.
• Identify coverage gaps and prioritize based on exploitability and business impact.
• Deliver scalable detection capabilities with actionable findings, not unread reports.
• Collaborate with PenTesting, vulnerability intelligence, and AI tooling teams to create feedback loops.
• Represent the team in business reviews and cross-org planning.
