Job summary

Baseten in San Francisco is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to build and strengthen the security posture of our ML infrastructure platform. You will work cross-functionally with engineering and operations to implement secure systems on AWS/GCP and embed security checks into the CI/CD pipeline.

You will lead vulnerability assessments, IAM governance, incident response, and security audits to help Baseten scale securely while complying with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and GDPR requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a security-focused role, preferably in a fast-paced startup.
• Strong knowledge of AWS/GCP cloud security, container security, and IaC.
• Hands-on with security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners) and scripting to automate tasks.
• Familiar with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR; translate requirements into controls.
• Incident response expertise including forensic analysis and root cause investigation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally to promote security culture.

Responsibilities

• Security architecture and design: Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement secure systems and infrastructure, including cloud environments and container orchestration platforms.
• Vulnerability management: Lead proactive assessments, pen tests, and remediation efforts to keep products secure.
• Incident response: Develop and maintain incident response processes, including detection, containment, and post-incident reviews.
• IAM: Oversee IAM strategies to ensure appropriate access controls.
• Security compliance and audits: Work with operations to meet SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc., and assist with audits and risk assessments.
• Security training: Develop and deliver security training and docs for the team.
• DevSecOps: Partner with DevOps to embed security in CI/CD pipelines.
