Job summary

TalentFish is seeking a Security Engineer II for a hybrid role, requiring onsite presence in the Chicago suburbs a couple of days per month. You will strengthen cybersecurity controls, lead incident response, and support enterprise risk and compliance.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in cybersecurity with Python/PowerShell automation, experience with security tools, and relevant certifications (CISSP or Security+).

Qualifications

• 4 years+ cybersecurity analyst/engineering experience, 8–10 years IT total.
• 4 years+ automation experience with Python and PowerShell.
• Experience implementing security tools, documenting processes, and measuring ROI.
• One or more certifications such as CISSP or CompTIA Security+.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, PCI, and NIST; strong communication, project management, and mentoring skills.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Knowledge of security controls and tools (SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, IDS/IPS, CSPM, CNAPP, SOAR).

Responsibilities

• Act as security engineering lead on complex security incident investigations and on-call rotations.
• Manage 2–3 security applications, improve controls, troubleshoot issues, and automate workflows.
• Assess system risks and security requirements before and after implementation and report capabilities.
• Develop and communicate security policies, standards, and awareness materials with IT partners.
• Support audits, deliver security projects, and mentor junior team members.
• Familiarity with CrowdStrike Falcon, Tenable, Microsoft E5, Delinea, Qualys, xDome/Medigate, Prisma, Cisco FTD.
